Suppressors AEM5 collar question - gunsmithing question.

Hey everyone,

This is my first post so bear with me. I am interested in buying my first suppressor - the AEM5. I know the barrel is supposed to be a SPR barrel in order for the collar to fit properly. I have a Green Mountain M28 barrel. Looking at the technical info on the M28 or an SPR barrel like through Ballistic Advantage I cannot see that I can or cannot attach the AEM5 collar. What am I missing?

Also, even if I cannot attach the collar to the GM barrel and go with that suppressor I have not but good things to say about GM and that barrel.

If I go with a different suppressor I have been looking at the Energetic Armaments Vox.

Allen Engineering has the print for the profile to the gas block on their website. SPR has taken on a generic term these days, so you'll have to compare the profile to the print.

One of my mk12 SPR barrels is a WOA, the other three are green Mountain gunsmith specials we profiled for the can and they shoot wonderful.

The AEM5 is an awesome can. A little on the heavy side compared to modern Ti stuff but they take abuse well and sounds great. I swap mine onto 4 barrels.

As Long as your barrel is close to the AEM contour, AEM will make you a custom collar to fit your barrel. If it’s just a little smaller or shorter.

I ordered a SPR barrel that was suppose to be the exact measurements of the original MK12 barrels. But when it came in, my gunsmith measured it and it was just slighty off. He called Allen at AEM he sent us a custom sized collar for my barrel.

I love my AEM5. Very quiet and very durable. Plus it’s a great company.

I got mine through ADCO Firearms. I don't know of anyone local who has them. I have read Form3s are going fast, so there not much downside to ordering in. My SOT was Nashville Armory.

Ron is terrific to work with isn't he. If (when) I build my large frame I'm going to go with the AEM5-30. Probably look like a big mk12mod0 or a big RECCE with a URX3.1 HG and the SPR profile.

AE cans are excellent and Ron is a REALLY good dude - you’ll be happy with the AEM5.
