Surely you have never sat in the gun turret position of an ASV while your ears were filled with Bad Religion, Fields of the Nephilim(yea yeah yeah, 90's stuff) or some killer metal. Same can be said of the view through the thick glass of the Nav seat as well.
While I do love the old 'classic rock' like CCR, The Animals, Cream, Steppenwolf, and the rest, that music was best listened to while in the door gunner position of a Huey or H-46. The new metal and punk is not for the pussified or limp wristed, adn it did do one thing to be sure, it kept your ass wide fucking awake as you scanned what you were driving through. VOX headsets and USB/iPod ports in the commo system rock in the new vehicles. It just lends to a different experience.
Me, I can only imagine what it was to listen to Steppenwolf hanging over an M60 in the doorway of a Huey with a nervous system filled with acid, that surely had to be some trip!
I just love the fact that every Warrior in every war since Viet Nam has had their music that gave to the overall experience. Bottom Line, it's all about the music
