I'm going to disagree for two reasons.
1. People selling homes/condos/etc will have a buyer. They will take a financial hit but buyers will simply displace the people leaving and they will likely be leftists that want to live in the city and gladly buy at a discount price. Some houses will be bought by developers for point #2 below.
2. Cities have been working to increase population density and the dependent class for a while under the scam called, "affordable housing". In Minneapolis for example, the new policy is that single family homes can't be built anymore and older ones are being knocked down to build section 8 complexes. Other areas are being developed to build high rise ghettos. It's called the 2040 plan and population desity is the name of the game. The Governor campaigned for election on importing 40,000 new Somalis to the city and they are sticking to it. Their goal is to import or grow the dependent class and turn the city into a 3rd world shithole that is very population dense.
Bonus for them are the riots that destroyed a major artery through S. Mpls. Those 1,000 buildings are not coming back. Instead their footprint will be occupied by high rise ghettos. The city loves the riots for the opportunity it brings to advance their goals. Not only will the city not lose people, it's going to gain big time by overfilling the holes their useful idiots dug for them.
Oh and the spark that kicked off the whole mess...well consider this. Officer Chauvin was extremely overcharged, to the point that he will not be convicted. The next round of riots as a result, really is by design. Do you see what I'm saying? They want more destruction...it helps them with their goals. Getting useful idiots to go destroy and clear land for you is a lot easier than doing it through legislation.
Their industry crashed, that was due to economic collapse. This is different and lefties are drawn to the city so they can feel "woke" so unless the city/area has a major economic collapse, someone is buying the house being sold.
I work for a sizable tech and direct a couple strategy teams..when not pulling guard duty as a sniper team lead (odd life mix... but numbers!! It’s all fking numbers)... not important. However, in our long term planning..10-20-50 year outlook strategies, we are already shifting our “mass urbanization” direction. This actually started with covid and based on long term historical events.
I.e- during the London transit strikes, it shifted 15% of the London workforce to a permanent remote work status.... trivial compared to covid impact.
I’ll skip all the rest of the futurist science data points....but you get the idea.
however, urbanization into mega cities has shifted to a tier 3 city preference amongst millinials. Expect real estate and population impacts in the NY, LA, San Fran and growth in the Cleveland, Austin, Boise, etc... (I know.. Austin maybe isn’t tier3..)
Anyway... major and lasting shifts will have an impact on population which trickles to real estate (personal and commercial buildings), transportation (roads and public transit), etc etc on through the economy...major tax shift implications as its earners shifting, not the dregs who take. Fks up the ratio of tax earner to tax receiver... city’s become greater shitholes.
Agenda 21 or no... there is a shift.
Mellenisls want city services without the chaos, high speed internet, not just “lots” of people but enough to create their eclectic environment, jobs which are becoming more remote, and to have uber eats while feeling “suburby” but not crowded. Finicky shits they are...

Meh I live next to a chocolate city with shit schools and the young ones leave as soon as they want to start a family. I promise you the annoying people that are attacking whites are driving people away from the city also. It would be much worse if crime was actually reported correctly by police in regards to the actual crime committed and the location. When something happens in the nicer parts of town the actual description is downgraded and the location isn’t moved a few streets (this was told to me by multiple different cop friends / acquaintances )
It’s not just Detroit. Piles of northeast cities have abandoned blocks of houses.
It would be much worse but the politicians steal money from the rest of the state and give it to builders/developers to put new condos etc in.
This is why banks generally want you to have 20% skin in the game on your home when they give you a loan for the other 80%, so you don't just 'walk away'
You make a huge assumption that someone is buying and folks are not just walking away from a home and deciding their equity isn't worth keeping (I am sure a lot of 5% down loans in certain areas) take the credit hit for defaulting, give the house back to the bank, and walk away and go live somewhere that is less prone to stupid.
I drove through Detroit circa 1970, made a wrong turn, and it was scary. I couldnt get out of there fast enough...50 years ago.
What a shame because their home is most peoples's largest investment.

There is zero delay to Agenda 21. Right now it's full steam ahead. Notice the big movement towards socialism? Or how about creating fear for defending yourself? Giving illegal immigrants more rights than the citizens of their own country, defund the police put your faith in the government...
Have you noticed the race to put up as many apartment complexes as possible and the smallest footprint available... I wonder why that is. With an apartment, there's no ownership which is exactly what the socialist society wants. You also get the added benefit of corralling everybody together. Think 1984... Was there much private ownership of homes, lands Etc?

I lived (grew up) in several big cities (NYC, Newark), and there was time when they were unbeatable; centers of arts and learning, places of beauty, opportunities to meet many and enjoy their presences.
That's different, and forgive my prejudice, it's directly the effects of minority activism and leftist political rule. They took a good thing, and they took their collective shits on it.
These days, I live in the high desert, underpopulated, much vacant real estate. We have a change of the demographics going on.
Two families have moved out, both liberal, both back to the cities. Two families have moved in, both families of kind and decent folks from the cities.
I don't pretend to understand any of this, especially not the why's.
I believe that good neighbors are made, not inherited. I do my best to extend the welcome, and stand alongside my neighbors, no matter what their views.
This all could be important. I don't know, but I'm going to do my best to make that true.

Excellent point, you are correct I did not consider that and I'll bet you are right there is some of that. But my overall point is that I'm not convinced there is a large scale displacement happening that is leaving a vacuum.
