AI 1.5 Cleaning rod length

I piggybacked this question in a previous thread of mine and it wasn't answered, so I thought I'd ask it here.

If I'm getting an AI AE non-folder with a 26" barrel, how long of a cleaning rod will I need. I know I'll have to remove the cheek rest, but I was hoping someone with the same setup (or very similar) could tell me what length I need.

I'd rather not buy a 44" if a 40" will work.
Yes....I will be using a bore guide. Will probably order a Lucas since he is about the only person who makes one.

The Lucas bore guide is approximately 6-8" long. Add that length to your barrel and you just need one long enough to reach out through the muzzle.

I get that much, but I've read that some people say that the non-folders have to have an extra long rod because the handle won't go past the butt pad without bending. By the calculations you provided, I could easily get by with a 36" rod, which I've heard will not work with a fixed stock AI.


Can someone confirm this?
