Is it possible to rechamber or do a set back on an AI AT barrel? They’re usually a medium to heavy Palma contour, is there enough chamber length?
Looking at barrel chambered for a 6.5x45L and want to rechamber to 6.5 Creedmoor...

If it has a fairly low round count, might be better to sell and have a new 6.5 barrel spun up.

Unless it’s an extremely good deal, what you’re suggesting isn’t cost effective. You could simply rechamber it, or lop off what’s there (provided there’s enough shank left) and rechamber, but either is going to cost you several hundred bucks. Creedmoor AT barrels are everywhere, why not just buy one that’s ready to go?

Since the creedmoor is a slightly longer case body, is it possible to just recut chamber with a creedmoor reamer? If body taper doesn't work out, maybe cutting .5" off tenon and cutting shoulder farther forward picking up the existing threads to new shoulder. That would get creedmoor throat into fresher part of barrel. I'm opposite of one poster, if it's a newer barrel it might be worth it, but if it's got 1000+ rds on it it seems a waste to dump another 300ish into it.

I think what the OP is asking is if there is enough material on a AI barrel that would allow you to set back the barrel. The AI barrels have a step down in diameter not too far from the action. Rechambering for the CM may locate the chamber in the narrower diameter of the barrel.
