Anyone have any thoughts or experience with the factory AI AW 308 integrally suppressed barrel? I am considering this, or an aftermarket 18" with a screw on suppressor.

A covert still has a two piece construction its not a one piece barrel. Its a 16" barrel with a 20" suppressor over it. The suppressor does leak near the receiver a bit, but its still very cool.
The deal with an AW is, you can pretty much make it anyway you want, you can change barrels like you change your socks, so try whatever you like.
A single point suppressor is always going to be your best bet, unless you plan on sneaking into the opera with your Coach case, assembling the Covert into its fully suppressed mode then using sub sonic ammo to take out the Tenor for a bad performance, or the conductor for the miscue during the Nutcracker the year before... it's really a speciality weapon and not meant for casual shooting unless your into that sort of thing and have a ton of disposable income to part with.
I got my covert years ago, and paid less than what a regular 2.0 AW will go for new today, so then I made out like a bandit, but today, its a lot for a 16" suppressed rifle.
