AI AXMC (LA) Owners

For those that have shot PRS type matches with a long action AXMC, do you feel that it balanced well on barricades/when using bags and such? Does it give anything up when comparing to the short action AX in this type of shooting environment? I have had AWs, an AX and an AT, but have never been behind a MC. I like the idea of having one AI that can shoot everything I want to shoot and I would think the added weight would be an advantage in PRS type shooting (if the weight is balanced well). I have a second platform that will fire LA calibers, so this isn’t a must and just trying to decide whether sticking with a AX or going with an MC would be more beneficial.

I have shot PRS matches with both and run my AXMC now. You can’t tell the difference.

While it's been brought up, for those with the AXMC LA and AX SA.......is the difference in bolt travel a difficult thing to get used to? I've seen side by side pictures and the add'l bolt length of the LA doesn't seem that significant.

This was my main concern. I spoke to an AI team shooter in depth about it before I got mine and he assured me that I'd see no difference. He was right. The travel is .5" or so longer but you don't notice it at all.

The SA conversion kit uses the SA mags placed forward in the magwell so you could short stroke it to normal SA travel I suppose but I don't as I see it as bad training and just asking to close the bolt on an empty chamber if you're really cranking them out. I run to the stop every time.

I'm going to echo Redneck's sentiments. I have both and I don't notice a huge difference.
