Well I took of the 260 barrel on my new to me AI MKII. While Installing the new barrel by hand it won't thread all the way on. It's about 3/16" of an inch from action. Is this normal? Should it thread up against the action and then torque to 100lbs? Do you need to tighten with wrench up against action and the torque. Please help. Don't want to damage anything lol

Problem solved. After talking to a Hide Brother from California I started inspecting the action threads. It looked like the scope rail screw was to deep into action threads. Backed screw out , problem solved. AI previously had a Murphy rail installed. When they reinstalled AI rail they used the taller Murphy screws instead of the shorter AI screws. To bad I ruined a good barrel taking it off last night. Thanks for all the help guys.

That barrel you removed with the screw threaded into it more than likely is not ruined. You can use a thread file and clean up the threads, they may not be as tall or pretty as the others but 3/16" isn't enough to worry about. As long as you remove all the burrs so you don't mar the threads in your action you should be good to go. Maybe reduce the torque some for that barrel, 50 lbft or so is more than enough. Glad you found the problem!
