I would appreciate some help. I would like to know why and if it is necessary, to have the chamfer on the chamber bore and why the threads are cut back on the OD of the barrel where it goes into the receiver on the bolt side. All my AI barrels are machined this way. I have one that was done by a gunsmith that is not, thanks in advance.

Re: AIAW Barrel

Great pics. I would think, not know, that the chamfer would maybe help with feeding and reduce bullet tip damage going into the chamber?? Just a guess.

PM member "tomirwin" he is the president of AI USA and will get back to you. Z

Re: AIAW Barrel

The Chamf. will indeed assist feeding & the thread is short from the end of the barrel as this is to clear the thead runount in the action infront of the lockring.
