I'm considering having a rifle built using the AI chassis with the pistol grip, I think it's called the AX chassis.

Does anyone within a few hundred miles or less have an AI rifle using this chassis? I'd really like to get behind one and see how it feels before committing to a build using this chassis.

In the photos I've seen of the rifle or chassis alone the cheekweld appears rather very near the rear of the stock.

I picked up one of the AX chassis a few weeks ago from Mile High. I temporarily put a Rem 700 SA SPS Varmint 26" barreled action into it while I get a Stiller TAC30 barreled up.

I'm way past your mileage requirements but I can tell you that out of the three AI chassis systems that I have owned I like the AX the most. I was never much of a thumb hole guy but all of the systems have been solid platforms to build off of.

While you are right about the cheek weld being positioned toward the rear of stock, it doesn’t seem to pose a problem or at least not for me. I had the same thought when I first considered picking an AX up so when I got it I set my scope back a little bit farther just in case. Now after shooting it I don’t think that it was necessary to set it back and I will probably push it forward a little.

I'm happy with mine. I found the LOP to be a little short, just like on the AICS I had. I got a spacer kit from another memeber and picked up some new screws for it today. It fits great now. It's like any other stock. Your going to love it or hate it. If you get one, give it a go for atleast a few weeks to get a fair evaluation of it.

I've had one for awhile now on my 6.5 creedmoor and i like it allot, considering ordering another in the LA for my .721 Firebird.
