AICS stockside interchangeability?

Re: AICS stockside interchangeability?

No, with clarification

Ok let me clarify. The AICS skins for long and short are the same with the exception of the mag cut-out. This is done after it comes from the mold.

If you have a short action you can put it on a long action if you want to open up the mag area towards the muzzle and drill the appropriate hole for the front action screw.

The long action skins will bolt to a Short action but the mag cut-out is longer. All other skin cross screw locations bolt cut out is the same between AICS stocks.

AI stocks are a different story.

You can't mix 1.5 with 2.0.

Re: AICS stockside interchangeability?

As I understand it, all of the AI skins are the same basic piece of polymer, but they vary depending on where they're cut-whether short or long action, cut-out for the bolt handle/buttspike/etc. Generally speaking you need skins that are specific to the weapon's type and configuration - short-action AE skins won't work on a long-action AICS, etc.

That's what I was looking for.
