In order for carriers to serve as intended in near pear conflict the Navy needs a better and longer range fighter.

Combat Radius F35c = 600 NM

The Navy needs purpose built fighter with a 1000 NM combat radius. We need a crash program for this. This single new weapon allows the carrier to control 3x the airspace. Increases operational options, and improves carrier survival by at least 3x.

I keep thinking more towards surgical missiles and UAVs as opposed to piloted craft..

give the enemy good warning, if he doesnt pay attention, the sky falls and we dont risk any manpower. I know that has limitations but a good investment.
