Anybody running the type 2 alpha mags in a surgeon RSR or 591. It looks like the loading port of both is 3.1 inches and the alpha mag is 2.985. can you run them without moding the feed ramp like other actions. I have ask this question about stillers and have now changed my plans to think about using a surgeon action if I can get the OAL where I want it.

Re: alpha mags in surgeon action

the new surgeons, at least the 591's are set up for the ai mags. there should not be a problem running the alpha mags. the outside of them are the same as the ai mags but the inside is longer for longer bullets. I have a surgeon being built right now by John Beanland that will be using the alpha mag 2 so that I can seat the long 115 dtacs out a ways.

Thanks rundm thats what I needed to know. Looks like the loading port is the same on both of the action according to their web site so the rsr should be the same hopefully.
