So here goes, I ordered a Vortex Viper PST FFP 4-16 MOA five months ago and I am still waiting along with the rest of the world. I really want a new optic for a rifle project of mine and I want to try a Vortex. A buddy of mine owns a shop (Vortex Dealer) and a customer returned a Razor HD (never mounted) only to order a Leupold Mark 8. I offred to trade a pristine (1960's) 2 1/2" Colt Python and a pristine 1970's Browning Hi-Power (Round hammer, fixed sights, made in Belgium). I know the handguns a worth more than the optic, BUT I WANT IT BAD.

It's what you want in the end. IF you don't need/use the handguns trade them. I personally would not trade a handgun in for an optic. Just my $.02

Ok so these are safe queens. Understood. They however sound like they're pretty collectable and you yourself said they are worth more than the optic (which by the way I want one of). Anyways sounds like youve got other guns so its not like these are your last two and since they arent your users I would say buy the scope if you have cash and then sell the two pistols and pocket whats left over or sell them first then pocket the change. Basically dont sell yourself short by trading them and taking a hit try to get the most you can then buy what your looking for. Thats what I would do anyway.

If thats what you want, then by all means do it. I traded 2 Kimbers for a Dan Wesson Limited Edition 10mm. People thought I was crazy, but I didnt shoot either Kimber, so it was a no brainer for me.

I used to be unable to fathom the idea of selling guns or trading them. Then I started to use my gear a lot more and found out what worked and didn't. Ended up doing a lot of consolidation, and am still in the process of doing so. If it is what you want, and you don't use what you are willing to trade for it, then by all means do so.

Did you get the EBR-2B?
They are nice scopes and I'm not a real big pistol guy so if your happy thats all that matters.
On a side note, I ordered my Vortex PST 4-16x50 on Tuesday and had it by Friday of the same week. Got it out on Monday and loved it.

i have the 4-16 scopes pst's in stock, it's the 6-24 scopes that are scarce.

Scott had to order my PST and it was only a couple weeks I think! I'm with the crowd that says do what YOU want with YOUR stuff. I would sell em for the higher value, get the scope I want, and pocket the rest. Or at worst try to haggle with the buddy and get something cash unless you're only talking $50 or $100 then I probably wouldn't worry about it. It's your stuff do what you want. I traded a grendel ar for a mk4 and cash, then traded the mk4 in to Scott at liberty and got a need rail and a PST. Made money on the first deal and then probably got back to even on the second deal. My point is its all about what you want and what you're willing to do to get it.

I've never been opposed to trading guns for gear... the heart wants what the heart wants...
I used to have a hard time grasping the concept of getting rid of guns. Now as long as you have what you need/want... who cares? Life is too short to not be happy and have a safe full of queens.

I ordered my 4-16 MOA PST from Jay (opticsspecialist) and even afterward I had to change my order up a bit and it still only took a week and somne change and will be here tomorrow. By the way Jay is good to go.
I dont know about trading two older collectors pieces for a scope, do you need or do you want? Its your stuff, and I can only speculate from what I have seen and read that the Razor is a heck of an optic abd will it fit your needs? But what if you get it and dont like it now your out the two pistols unless your buddy will trade you back.A used scope your gonna take a hit on trying to sell it. If those two pistols are colletors pieces and they dont have any centimental value and are taking up space and you are really in need of a scope like the Razor? I would see what they may sell for a local gun show ( do they have those in California? ) and if they are not getting what you want for a price to fund your scope then trade, or keep them and get a small loan from the bank lol, keep the guns, and buy the Razor. Or just check on here with a vendor and see how long it would take to get a PST and keep your guns.
