Has anyone seen or shot this?
It's a new load from Federal using a 168gr OTM bullet, I'm guessing it is supposed to be an economical practice load as the listed ballistics are similar to FGMM .308 168gr

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

The M1A nomenclature suggests Military...............
Why they would use a 168 is beyond me though.
M2, M3 have been used in the past.

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but did anyone ever shoot any of this? I'd love to hear some feedback on it.

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

Side note that they probably only mark it as "For M1A" since it may have a harder primer (like a CCI #34) because of the M1A's floating firing pin. I couldn't tell you for sure, that is this true, though. People on TFL seem to like it. I would buy a bunch of it if it didn't have Federal brass

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

Way to bump a two year old thread. Spend $18 to find out how they shoot in your rifle. They shot fine at 100 yards in my M700; I have not had time to test them further. No "hard" primer issues, whatever that is.

Good luck

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

The box I ran through my DPMS LR308 wouldn't group smaller than 2moa at 100 yrds. And the box I ran through my rem700 wouldn't shoot less than 1.5 moa at 100. And the primers are crimped. So, I wouldn't waste the $18, if your looking for an alterative to FGMM.

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

My match M1a's shoot the 168otm very well, better than anything else in that price range. It does not shoot as good as FGMM. My match M1a's are sub MOA with FGMM, but are 1-1.5MOA with this load. It prints pretty close to the same POI for me.

Re: American eagle .308 M1A

I used it for vaportrailtactical Precision Rifle 1 last month. It was good to 960 yards in a 20" SPS. I shot a group under an 1MOA at 300.Sean shot a group with my rifle and four were touching at 100 yds. It was very consistent.
