American Precision Arms (APA) Rifle Has Arrived.

First I want to say thank you to the great people of American Precision Arms, (APA). It was a pleasure doing business with you and I could not be more pleased with the end result of this build.

Just wanted to share with all of you my newest custom build that just arrived this afternoon. Most of the parts for this rifle were purchased here on Sniper's Hide from some really great people. The finished product came out great. I hope to shoot it this coming weekend and report back with range results.

Rifle Specs:

* Remington 700 Action W/ old Style Trigger

* APA Trigger Guard RTG/SA

* Obermeyer Barrel Chambered in .308 Winchester, 1 In 11 Twist, AMU Contour, Finished at 22"

* APA Little Bastard Brake

* APA Recoil Lug

* APA Bolt Knob

* HS Precision PST025 Fully Adjustable Stock in Black with Grey webbing.

* Leupold Mark 4 15 MOA Base

* Leupold Mark 4 Rings

* Nighforce 5.5-20x50, Mil/Mil, W/ MLR Reticle

* Harris BRMS, 6-9, Swivel, Notched Legs

* Weight = 16.5 Lbs on my bathroom scale as you see it, including the bipod.

Th<span style="font-weight: bold">e Rifle Shot Great. All Shots Are 5rd Groups With Federal Gold 168gr and 175gr At 100yds.
Very little recoil with the brake. Conditions Were Very Windy And Cold High 40's.</span>

I didnt see very many builds being built with HS Precision Stocks and I have always liked the adjustable features on this one so I went with it.

It's a great stock it just isn't available for any other actions with the adjustable feature. Not a big deal, it's different and looks great

She is a bit of a pig. As you see it, including the bipod, it weighs 16.5 Lbs on my bathroom scale. I will say that even with so much weight, it balances really nice. Seems to me that the balance point is right at the recoil lug. I cant wait to shoot it as there should be very little recoil with all that weight and the brake.

Wow that thing's really nice. I just put a little bastard on my 308 but haven't been able to shoot it yet. APA is awesome to deal with.

The knob is steel or some sort of metal.

As for a Range Report, I am going to try and squeeze off a few rounds this evening. Ill post the results if I do.

I usually set my scope like that when shooting for groups so I dont mess up my aiming point. I adjusted it back to zero before I left.

The Little Bastard Brake is very affective in taming recoil, not that you really need it with a .308. This is my first braked rifle and I will say that at 100 yard with scope turned up to 20x I was easily ablt to spot my impact on target as the rifle moved very little. As for noise, well I had good ear protection on and shooting under a tin roof, but I really could not tell much of a difference between it and my other .308s. I am sure that perhaps the other members at the range could tell the differnce, but I didnt get any dirty looks or anything like that.

I am trying to talk myself into a Lil-Bastard for a semi 308. It sure did NOT affect accuracy negatively.

The tree is fake. If I wrapped the rifle I might not get another present for Christmas. Will see what Santa brings this year. Hopefully more ammo.
