Hello All,

Ive finally decided to try my hand at some longer range shooting after years of experience with AR 15s in my civilian life and m16A2 in my Marine Corps years. I recently sold on of my ARs that have collected more dust in the safe then have been shot the past two years or so.

I’m currently looking at the Bergera HMR in either .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor and topping it with a Vortex Viper PST 2, 3-15. Going to try my hand at hunting next season with a buddy that has property in the Poconos with said rifle in addition to finding ranges long enough to learn to shoot as you fellas do. I’d consider myself a decent shot... I currently shot another top tier AR sub MOA at 100 yards with my PST Gen 2, 1-6 so while I am no stranger to shooting, I am at the longer ranges. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas to all!

Welcome. Enjoy the time getting set up for long rnage and hunting. Good luck with the choice between .308 vs 6.5 creedmoor. I started out with a 6.5 creedmoor, added a .308, sold my 1st 6.5 to a buddy and bought a new Masterpiece Arms 6.5 creedmoor. I've shot the 6.5 out to 1250 yards. I'm sure their are others who can do that with the .308 but in my opinion, it's a lot easier with the creedmoor.
