    ^ Awsome!!

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

Wow.. how the hell to you even fly that thing that fast with a remote without having some type of alt, gyro, heading, indicators

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

At 0:51, it matches the pitch I have in my left ear 24/7. I could not have something like that to play with - I would hurt myself, someone else, or crash and burn. I'd be too worried about messing something up the whole time I was trying to fly it. Very very cool though!

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

What amazes me is not only does he manage to keep track of that thing well enough to keep the low alt passes directly in front of the camera each time, when he dead sticks it in he stops it right in front of him. I would have launched, watched it fly off for about 3 seconds then it never would have been seen again (except possibly on the evening news in regards to whatever it destroyed)

    Really?!

It looks like a piece of shaped foam (it's probably not foam, but I'm sure he made it) with a single jetcat engine on it and some electronics/servos. The engine is anywhere from $2500 to $4000 depending on the model, electronics, who knows. I wouldn't guess more than 6 or 7K for everything. Probably less though.

Edit: i see the engine is the $4000 one

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

Those mini jets have to be made out of carbon fiber, kevlar and aluminum or els they will fall appart at the speeds that thing is capable of. So no go on any foam pieces.

I saw how they are built on a episode of How It's Made. they said a fully ready to go turbine model can range from $15-25K. Thats how much my motorcycle cost for god sake.

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

Granted the one in the vid is kinda small, I still would say that its worth close to 10K with all of the electronics when its all said and done.

whatever, I'm making one out of cereal boxes, milk crate pieces, and duct tape...of course it will be controlled by a wire on a stick, since after the $4000 jet engine I won't be able to afford any electronics. I'll show you.......

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

That thing would be a great platform for some kind of lead spewing device. Don't know if you guys are it to rc boat's but, they the same engine in them and they are scary fast. I do not have a clue how to post a video so check them on you tube

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

    1. Absolutely incredible
    2. Someone needs to forward the recruitment links for UAV pilots to this dude. Osama's going down if this guy's flying the drone.
    3. Maybe the first useful post I've seen by Maser... I'm as shocked as you are.

Here is a $25K twin engine model.

And here is how fast you can waste a good 5-10K in a couple of minutes.

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

LOL I have trouble keeping track of my nitro car that does like 50, The hobby shop here had a 1/5" maybe helicopter, it was 1/2 the size of my jeep wrangler almost and they wanted like 30g's for it. Guns are an expensive hobby but it does not hold a candle to nitro RC items...

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

Just thought i would share this, this is a jet turbine replica of our aircraft.this guy lives over the pond and we have communicated via email so i could send him hat, posters ect.he has over 17,000 pounds invested in it.first like is the replica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-B7ICsN9rg and here is Life Air Rescues site http://lifeairrescue.com/index.php

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

bet one could mount a ruger 10/22 metal with a servo and make a homemade death trap. that's too much loot for me to see it fly 4 seconds and lose track of it and produce a crater in the ground

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

That thing is crazy, kid must have some good eyes to keep track of that thing at those speeds, not to mention a whole ton of practice with slower r/c jets to fly it so well, WOW

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

There is a local guy here in San Diego Michael Hennig that has his own drone that he has been using to help solve crimes and look for missing persons like the two girls that were kidnapped, raped, and killed here. Here is a short video of him.

The engines in the OP are the same ones that the crazy french guy Yves Rossy uses on his jet pack.

Re: And I thought my r/c cars were badass!

Not sure the 366mph claim is entirely accurate, but they are capable of around 300mph. Still, the fastest RC aircraft is not a jet or rocket plane, but a GLIDER!
    I don't think they've broken the 400mph barrier, but they're close:
