This is so F'n rich....only in Hollywood.
Actor Richard Dreyfuss is not a fan of the Academy Awards’ new diversity guidelines.

Officials announced in 2020 that beginning in 2024, movies must meet certain criteria for representation to be eligible for the Academy Award for best picture.

Films have to meet at least two of four benchmarks, which cover – among other things – whether the lead actors are from underrepresented groups or if at least 30% of the cast and crew come from these groups.

Forced ethnicity hires, and I thought it was all voluntarily done ?

Wonder what they do when there just aren't enough diversity hires to go around and meet the demands from all the studios? Wonder if those diversity hires start getting the idea that they're more valuable and start pricing themselves out of jobs, making the available pool of workers even smaller. Of course they'll play the victim card when they can't get work...can't have a day go by without someone claiming victim status.

My wife and I watched "A man called Otto" last night....and of course it had to have the woke shit in it. Can't have a fucking film anymore without a bunch of woke shit anymore.

And the obligatory soft porn bedroom scenes.

Nobody that's married and has kids in the house gets it on like they do in movies. It's generally a race to finish before one of the kids starts trying to break into the room......or maybe that's just my house......

That is pretty rich - the Academy telling independent studios who to hire. Perhaps the Academy's membership should reflect the same diversity. If they get called out on that it'll be interesting.

Been a while but when I worked on balloting for the Oscars when I was with PWCs LA office the academy, as a whole, was not very diverse - at all...

That is exactly what will happen. Eventually, people will just quit watching. They don't to be preached at.

yea hollywood isn't going to ever get back to just making good movies ever those days are long gone you got to look forward to long winded preachy , movies based around trans and gay a coming regardless if they make a dime or not . write a good script and they won't want it unless it's pc friendly so no humor , nothing remotely funny for at least the next 10 to 20 years . yea cause the last movie I have seen in the theaters was the lord of the rings in the early to mid 90's not I just wait for something I might like and watch it online for free , my own popcorn ( non sticky seats ) and poof westerns or old war movies at my finger tips while I press my ammo life is good .

Fortunately, there are some good actors making good movies. Neal McDonough, Lucas Black, Dean Cain.

The film crew quota is solved pretty easily: just hire a bunch of kids from Compton or East LA for a day or two for $50, give each of them a small stack of xeroxed promotional flyers and list them on your documents as "publicists". They don't actually need to hand out the flyers or do any other work.

Smart film producers will figure out how to game this just like they game the financial and taxing aspects of their business. It'll all be virtue signalling and window dressing.

I hope they ALL go F'n broke. Maybe, just maybe, we'll get back to the good ol' days of cig smoke'n, whiskey drink'n, hoe chasing, good time movies. All this woke shit is going to F'n back-fire. We see it happening now, to a small degree. Once they feel the pain of all the $$ drying up, they'll get back to the basics.

Looked it up real quick, last "Best Picture" winner I've seen was "Argo" that won in 2012, and looking at the list of nominees this century I've seen well under half, probably less than a quarter. I'm not a movie hater either, I truly enjoy an excellent movie and love watching an old classic gem with my wife who had little exposure to the instant classic films over the years. Present day Hollyweird can go fuck itself.

Winning an Oscar or Emmy no longer means it's a good movie for me, not in the least. The shitty acting and screenplays of Netflix Studios is especially laughable. I can only imagine the shit films Amazon has, thank goodness I avoid them like a leper. Shit, even everyone's favorite of last year "Top Gun: Maverick" had some of the shittiest acting and cheese-dick 80s style screenplay/storyline, and would have been on the level of Iron Eagle III if it weren't saved by its incredible aerial filming.

Richard Dreyfuss was hilarious on Bill Maher's podcast. Not sure what he was high on, but it looked funny how he kept sliding out of the chair. :ROFLMAO:

Whose got time so sit indoors and watch movies from the degenerates in holywood? I have to much fun stuff to do outside in GODs creation
Every minute watching a Brokeback Mountain-ish thing is a minute not spent at the range. And if your wife tells she wants to see it, tell her fine, that's a chick flick, she did not marry you because you like gay love stories. Actually, most right thinking women won't care for it, either.

And what do you call the woman that goes with you to the range and has her rifle and ammo? A keeper, "Honey," or "Darling."

I refuse to watch any of the crap with forced agendas, f'em, there's more old westerns, comedies, dramas and TV shows than I will ever be able to plow thru.

OK, hang with me here; I just had an idea about how they might have to cast a remake of Hell or High Water: make the two bank robbers Kunal Nayyar (Big Bang Theory) and Mindy Kaling (The Office) with Kunal being the more level-headed of the two and Mindy being the crazy ex-con sibling. The old LEO guy trying to track them down could be played by Lawrence Fishburn, with his part-native American sidekick played by Ken Jeong, who constantly grumbles about "those dot Indians not being real Indians". Naturally, all of them would mimic West Texas drawls in their speech.

On second thought, this just might work as an unintentional ironic spoof...

The Harold and Kumar movies were plenty diverse enough for me.
It's was mindless stoner comedy, but those movies were funny as hell.
Not that I would suggest torrenting anything, nah, that just wouldn't be right now would it ?

The key is to finish first and quickly roll over so you can sleep....then she has to deal with kid when they inevitably wake up "can I have snack"...."I'm thirsty".

Amazon has made billion dollar flops with these woke production rules. So has Netflix. Its all about the ESG score.
    For the bankers.
This guy has been ripping woke Hollywood for quite a while.

As long as we can keep Ray Wylie Hubbard's "Time to Rock and Roll" in the soundtrack. Seriously, a good musician. You can see his famous song quoted in my signature.

SISU looks like it would be a good show.

If only it was about a Fin trained by SS in armed resistance tactics fighting the Red Army (Larry Thorne, etc) ....

Then it would be more historically accurate.

Scandinavian countries weren't against Germany in WWII LoLz.

And that’s why I watch 40’s and 50’s detective noir films, watch Laura at least once a year.

    Rich

The murder method in Laura was mirrored in Sharky's Machine. It's one of Reynolds' better movies. Worth the watch.

If Dark Passage isn't on your list, it should be. You don't see Bogart's face until 30 minutes into the movie...

Finns fought the Russians before they joined forces with Germany, fought the Germans after the Axis was formed and fought with the Allies against the Germans
