I'm curious here, but what is the steepest angle that you've shot at, and at what range? And above or below horizontal?

    Thank you for your input.

    Re: Angle question,

well I've had some shots at or a little over 45 degrees from 100-700 yds. Both above and below the Horizon.

And I've also made shots straight down 180 degrees to 10 yards.

your poll only allows one of each so I didn't pick any...but here are where my shots have fallen. Hope that helps.

    KJDrake and all,

I see what you are saying, and appreciate that type of information. While my initial question was for the "Steepest angle", the information which you shared is of much more value.

So, anyone willing to input that on the 'poll', then give further info is more than welcome.

    Thanks,

    Sean.

--I'm not the greatest wordsmith, and did my best when I made the questions. How better to have done it, I'm not sure. Just trying to avoid a "questionnaire" and make it easy for all.

    Re: Angle question,

I've never shot at an angle of more than about 25 degrees at a distance of more than 500 yards. Such shots are going to be pretty rare.

I've made some upward angle shots of about 25 or 30 degrees at distances of about 500 yards.

Like Kevin, I've made some steep downward angle shots at relatively short distances at relatively small targets.

It's not obvious what you are trying to determine. Perhaps you'd care to be more explicit.

    Re: Angle question,

where we tend to shoot, most targets will appear below us. our walk in puts us up really high in the mountains with all the valley clearings below us on both sides. they're steep but not un-walkable by any means. ranges normally between 200 - 750 yds.

    Re: Angle question,

Steepest angle was a shot at a goat that was on a ledge directly below me. He was a survivor of a mob of goats that I had just shot up.
I had to lean out over the rock ledge and aim back under my shooting possition to get the shot. Range was only about 12 metres. He never knew what hit him.

Appart from this one shot, I have taken plenty at steep up and down angles. Usually close shots can be very steep and longer shots the angle is not so great.

    Re: Angle question,

Bringing this back up to the top, for hopefully more input.

Lindy, I'd love to disclose more of what is going on, but my Lady says 'not yet'. This whole thing is taking way longer than expected, and she's trying to ensure that all 'ducks are in a row' properly. [[all angles are covered?---couldn't resist, pun intended]]

So I help out wherever I can, and that which I don't know, I ask. And research. And experiment.

The hopes for more input of actual angle shots taken is not for 'better input' at all. Just 'more' input, to cover a "better generalization" (I forget the right word) of the topic.
