annoying noise on home page

Something is causing a repetitive noise like someone hitting a tennis ball when the forum home page is up. Only way I've found to kill it is to enter a forum and it comes back when I return to the main forum page.

How can I stop this?

It's the new shoutbox (chat) at the bottom of the page. You can disable the sounds on the User Settings page.

Lowlight just installed this new plugin today.
