Sorry guys one more question. This being my first magnum rifle should I go with one scope rail over the other? Aluminum or steel? Thanks again for all the help.
The key to a good scope mount is getting a quality part. I like TPS for a 1 piece pic rail and I like their rings with the 2 cross bolts. I think steel or aluminum can work for something like this. A one piece rail allows fo easy bedding.
With a lighter optic/open sights, I like Warne quick release mounts which are steel and 2 pc. Using something like this, you really need to take care your mount isn’t stressing your scope tube because bedding isn’t possible.
Avoid std sporting goods store scope rings and bases....generally crap.
