Gunsmithing Another deadline question.

Can anyone explain why this little spacer will fit both ways in a gen2 deadline.
Im guessing it has to do with different cartridge lengths and feeding issues?
And which way should I install it? 1 or 2?
I'll be using a accurate mag running 300prc.
Sorry for the dumb question as I wasnt expecting this and cant wait till the morning to ask ultimatum.

Interesting. Does it even need to be used with a 300prc? I had a gen1 deadline short action in 6.5prc, no spacer came with it. What does that look like when it's in the stock/chassis? What do loaded mags look like?
