Rifle Scopes Another..help me choose a scope thread!

Hey Y'all,
I sure could use some help...I've looked 'till I'm 'bout cross eyed and crazy!
My needs seem simple, but finding the right scope is a challenge!
I need a scope for my Weatherby vanguard II .243 for hunting and plinking to 600 yds.

I prefer to dial so reticle can be rather simple but I prefer illumination.
My budget is $300-$400 less would be great!
I don't care if it is FFP or SFP Glass quality is more important.

Scopes I have been considering...18x or24x
Vortex Optics Diamondback Tactical
Athlon Optics Argos BTR GEN2 or GEN1
Vortex Optics Strike Eagle Second Focal Plane
TAC Vector Optics Taurus

I'm sure there are more and possibly better choices.

My Athlon Argos BTR 6-24 x50 is going back for warranty repair or replacement due to a tracking issue. At 550 yards my dope is dial up 10 MOA but I don’t get hits until I dial back to only 4 MOA up while holding 10 MOA on the reticle I got a cold bore hit at 550. Other tests show a tracking error. I understand that this is a sample of only one but it is info to possibly be considered in your choice.

I forgot to add that mine is a Gen. 1. And the nylon/Teflon shim zero stop while somewhat functional really kind of sucks. A hard mechanical zero stop like I think the Gen. 2 has would be better.

400 bucks, hmm......I have vector taurus 5-30x56 and cabela's covenant 7(available in 3-21 and 5-35). Both about same price. I'd say their both decent. Taurus is long!

I had to send back a Taurus x24 ,had bad elevation turret...otherwise I liked it. I was very disappointed in Vector's customer service though. I'll give the Covenant a look see...

What was wrong with elevation turret? My first outing at range didn't go well with my elevation. Seemed like it was not tracking correctly

It was hard to turn, couldn't hardly here or feel clicks, hash marks didn't align about everything that could be wrong was!!!. The windage turret worked really nice!

It was optional, but came with a free screw...
