I'm loading Hornady A-max 168gr bullets. When i run the Hornady/Stoney Creek guide on it, i consistently come up with a length of 2.950 This is on a new remington 700P. Doesn't that seem long?

Re: Another OAL Question .308

You're getting 2.950 as a distance to the lands with a Stoney Point guage, or are you talking the length of the loaded round?

Re: Another OAL Question .308

Not that bad, my match ammo I normally run at 2.927 and thats .020 off the lands.

edited: using 168gr Amaxs in Lapua brass. free bore is .147

Re: Another OAL Question .308

That would be the distance to the lands with the gauge.

Re: Another OAL Question .308

2.950" COAL with 168 Amax's isn't unusual in what LoneWolfUSMC has been heard to refer to as the "porn star" factory remington throats.
