I haven't seen any of that where I work or spend my evenings. It is overhyped. It only applies to certain areas of the city. As such, there are areas of SF that are off-limits for me due to crime and sanitary reasons.

I worry more about the crazies. They are everywhere. I can't carry anything while I am there, so vigilance and situational awareness while walking are important.
