Another R700 action question

I recently bought a Remington 700 action dating from the 90's and it has a screw in the bolt handle. Was this factory? Havent seen this before i have several action dating from current to late 60's.

It was quite a common mod for a while. Its to keep the oem silver solder joint from breaking. Usually they were screwed, soldered, and then blended in. Now we just tig weld them together.

To answer your question, NO, it was NOT a factory installed screw.
