I have two new Anschutz 22lr 5rd mags. One feeds very reliably but the other one not so much. It looks like the round does not sit up high enough in the mag for the bolt to reliably pick up the case rim. Does anyone have any tips on how to adjust the mag to solve this? I'm hesitant to just start trying to fix it because with my luck I'd just end up ruining it. Thanks

Re: Anschutz 22lr mag tuning

Have a look at the two lips at the top of the mag at the position of the rim of the cartridge. The space between them should be exactly 5 mm (0.197"). If the mag is dropped or bumped and one of the lips bends down it can cause this problem, its easy to bend them back.

Re: Anschutz 22lr mag tuning

Lip width checks out at .197". Turns out my bolt was very dirty so I cleaned it and mag reliability improved. It is still not 100% reliable so I think I will try polishing with my Dremel tool or very minor mag lip expansion. I'm sure this has something to do with my Cooper 57M bolt even though the Anshutz mags are supposedly 100% compatible.
