Any color blind folks on the board?

< Color blind. (really fucked me when I wanted to join the military).

Color 'blind' is a misnomer. Generally one who is color blind has color deficiencies. The receptors that pick up different colors are affected. Generally one doesn't see in black and white only, it's that some colors look the same to us.

Some pinks and grays are the same for me. Some reds and browns look similar to me and I have some issues with shades of blue to purple. Everyone is different. There's a test you can take to find out what deficiencies you have beyond just having trouble seeing colors the same as a "normal" vision person does.

I have a little bit of colorbindness with green and blue.
I see greens and blues that others don't.
This worked out well for me when I was out in the jungle in RVN in the fact that I would see greens that weren't the same to me that others saw just green. I saw different tints/hues of that green/blue and know something had disturbed those plants and know something was wrong," don't go there unless you are ready, and want to go because Luke The Gook or Chuck is dug in over there and doing a camo job."

I look at it as a Blessing and not something bad. I know it put me on point a lot but kept us out of bad shit as I could see their positions and point them out before we walked into a lashup. FM

There are certain lighter shades of red and green that look the same to me. Other than that I can see most colors just fine. It took months of testing to determine whether I was colorblind or not. The reticle in my Steiner Nighthunter LRF binos can be hard to see in bright light, and my right eye is more affected than the left.

It would be great if there was the ability to change the reticle color in LRF's.

I used to be color blind becuase everything was green, Marine green. Then I joined the Army and got sent to places where I learned a new word, RACISM. All of a sudden everthing had COLOR! Black, White, Brown, Yellow, Red, Green, so much politics and asinine stuff all around me.
Now that I'm all out and transitioned, the colors changed to food like, Lettuce, Guacamole, Bacon, and Tomato! Damn I'm confused, but seriously in need of a sammich!

I am also very color blind like I get everything wrong on the test. In low light I can pretty much mix up anything. In bright light it depends on how vibrant the color is but duller colors are still difficult in full light. I too have heard of the glasses but never tried them.

I've been meaning to start a thread on here in regards to colorblindness when it comes to scopes. Many people speak about the sharpness of colors or how much things pop on the high end scopes and I have always wondered if this is even something I can see.

Interesting. A while back I took the test on their web page and the result was that I was not a candidate based on the type of color blindness I have. I took the test now and the result is that I’m a great candidate. I wonder if the pc display settings affect the test results? Being color blind, I can only imagine how fucked up my monitor looks to everyone else?

Take a screenshot and post it.

I took the test on their website yesterday and I found that if I lowered my head and looked up at the monitor the numbers became clearer. I have always found that projections and screens have been where I have the most trouble. I believe the best way to get an accurate result on that test is to do them with the physical cards as messing with the color balance on your screen can skew the results.

I have a bit of color vision deficiency. As one poster said above, deep blues/purples look the same. And, Have problems picking up a bit of green in a field of green (try being color blind ant blood trail a deer) Or a bit of green in a field of red.

Biology loves false color images, and red/green is the favorite. I can never figure out what I am supposed to be seeing.

But, I most certainly, see most colors well.

That's me too. I see in color and plenty of it. I just cannot tell someone what many of the colors actually are. I tend to be mildly amused that people think that I only see in black and white when I tell them I am colorblind.
