Any experience with Pierce or Defiance actions?

Just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with either a Pierce or Defiance action? I was wondering the Pro's and Con's of each. This would be for a hunting rig. I'm just at the research phase of a potential build.

Where does one find Bighorn actions? The website doesn't list a price or if they can be purchased there or at some other business, at least that I could find....

I did search but didn't find anything I though was real recent. I've "googled" both actions.

I have currently have two Bighorns and have two of AJ's new actions on order to be here in January. I was just wanting to see if anyone had any comments on either of these actions for a hunting application.

Call AJ,he's a super nice guy. Very knowledgeable. He's also coming out with some improvements and he can explain it to you.

Defiance makes a good action. They make signature actions for Louisiana Precision, GAP, APA, SAC, etc. No experience with Pierce but I like my Defiance action rifles. Not quite as smooth as my Surgeon 591 gun right out of the box but slick up quickly and wouldn't hesitate to use one again.

I have a Pierce on my 338 lm build Accurate Ordnance did for me. Bolt lift and action are smooth and precise. Call Mark @AO 678-219-0096

I have some of each. They are both excellent actions. The Pierce is tighter, the Pierce practical action is heavier and the bolt handle longer, although John can make the handle any length you want.

Many boutique actions are manufactured by Defiance and tweaked by the builders. If they trust em, so do I. Weight is comparable to a 700, lighter than some options like Surgeon, which better suits a hunter. Don't know the weight of the Bighorn offhand but they have a good reputation as well.

I personally like the Badger, but I'm waiting for em to really perfect the design before I commit to buy; been hearing a few stories about light primer strikes, stuck cases, FTF, etc.

I have built three guns off of Defiance actions and all three have been extremely accurate and reliable. My current long range F-class open gun is built off of a Defiance action. I like 'em.

I built a Pierce SA around the 7WSM. It's an older receiver and not the 'tactical' variety Pierce offers now, but 'precision matches' is primarily what I do with it.

I used a Pierce short single shot action for a build back in the summer. The delivery was spot on and quick, the customer service was first class and the action itself is great. My rifle is averaging 1/2 MOA ( 6.5 CM) and I used it this fall to smack my 2 doe antelope. I build guns for a living and will be using more actions from Pierce.
