Movie Theater Any info on the next Bond movie?

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

It stars Daniel Craig and it's called "Bond 23." No script details have yet leaked out. In June, MGM set a November US release date. In July, they announced it was permanently canceled.

They apparently are too busy with bankruptcy proceedings to bother making movies. Which is ironic, because CR and QoS made them $1 billion. With a "B".

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

Kind of on topic in the Bond universe...

I picked up a new Bond book called "Carte Blanche". Normally I'd stay away from something like this, unless it's the old Ian Fleming novels, but it just happen to be written by Jeffrey Deaver, who write some extremely good stories about Europe with a big helping of intrigue.

As for the movies, I hope they get their act together quickly.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

As long as Mark Forster doesnt direct the next bond movie. The movie was fairly bad under his rule.

The plot of QOS was even horrible...

"<span style="font-style: italic">In 1999, Bechtel corporation signed a contract with the president of Bolivia to privatize the water supply in the 3rd-largest city, and shortly thereafter tripled the water rates. Yeah, that's right, they tripled the rates in real life... so when the bad guy in James Bond threatens to double the rates, it's like the producers are challenging you to give less of a shit. They took a non-interesting real-life story and somehow made it less interesting than real life</span>"

Sometimes I really love maddox.

He's not Bond, he's Q the gadget guy.

SPOILER: Bond is killed in this movie when the rocket launcher using model rocket engines blows up in his face.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

Its the 23 bond film the title has yet to be released IIRC. Sam mendes is the director so it should be good. It certainly has a good cast with Daniel Craig, Ralph fiennez, and Javier bardem. I'm not wild about money penny being black as the original is white and I just don't know anything about Naomi harris. Supposedly the name is "skyfall"

Hopefully this will fill in a proper addition to the new series I adore casino rpyale but wasn't wild about quantum of solace

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

The UK Daily Mail reports filming is underway in Scotland. The title is "Skyfall" and, best I can figure, it's plot is completely original and does not come from any previous Bond novel, Felming's or Gardner's or otherwise. Since it was a setup for a sequel, I take that as a sign the studio recognized QoS was a dog and decided to ditch the sequel.

Javier Bardem, the psycho hit man from "No Country for Old Men" is the heavy. And as in CR, one of the co-stars apparently is a battleship grey Aston-Martin DB5.

Ben "the Stig" Collins once again is JB's stunt-driving double, as he was in CR and QoS. If it weren't for that book, he could have gone his entire career without ever getting his face on camera.

UK release is still scheduled for October.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

For those that are wondering "Carte Blanche" by Jeffrey Deaver, wasn't that good if you pay attention to the Bond universe. It had too many times where stuff was added just because the author thought it was cool. Bond owns and drives a Bentley Continental instead of an Aston Martin, that kind of thing.

Hopefully "Skyfall", doesn't make up stupid little things like that, such as when Bond started driving BMWs around, and keeps it to it's roots.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

I don't know, they haven't really kept it too it's roots in the last two films. I mean it's basically just a Jason Bourne movie where he's not running away from the government, but working for them.

Now I would also like to see them take it back to the roots, and it might be headed in the right direction beings "Q" is going to be coming back apparently (although obviously not the original beings he's dead), but Goldeneye had a BMW (even if it was for only 2 seconds) and I think that is one of the best Bond movies ever made, and by far the best one without Connery.

Anyway, I think the new movies are taking Bond too seriously. James Bond is supposed to have sweet gadgets, have a sense of humor, maybe talk a little bit in the movie (lol, it seems new bond doesn't say much), nail every hot chick in sight, fly fighter jets, drive cars with missiles behind the headlights, and blow up entire countries trying to catch the bad guy.

The new one doesn't seem to do any of that.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

I agree that GoldenEye was good, it also had a great villian in Sean Bean's character. It was some great acting on his part. Also I think the latest Bond films have been extremely lacking in the antagonist/villain department, as well as the evil plot.

I did like the way that CR had in Bond being more action oriented, getting more dirty, and less of doing it all while still keeping the tuxedo spotless. It seemed more realistic to me.

I promise you guys that when it comes out, I'll go first thing to see it, and write a honest review before the end of the work day. I'll cover any aspects that anyone wants, so post here on what you specifically want me to look for during the movie. I know enough about the Bond universe, so I'm sure that I can cover it from the view of a die hard Bond fan.

I'll do it similar to what I did with my review on "The Grey". No holds barred on my end.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

Bean was a fantastic villain. Can you believe my friend hasn't seen any of the Bond films besides parts of Casino Royale? I told him to watch Goldeneye when it was on Netflix to watch instantly but he never did.

Basically what it boils down to is he's an idiot. Goldeneye is easily top 10, most likely top 5, favorite movies of all time. The later Brosnan's weren't quite up to par with his first, but oh well. I wish they would have made some sort of sequel, although that kind of goes against the Bond formula, and the fact that Alec died at the end. But then again, he died at the beginning too, so who knows.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

I wish martin cambell was directing the new Bond film. He did do Goldeneye and look what he did with Casino Royale. Not that i doubt Sam Mendes because he is indeed a great director, just wondering if we'll get the same bond that was so awesome in Casino Royale. Casino Royale is my favorite bond movie even over the classics. It's just that good in my eyes. La'Chiffes character is a fantastic villain also. As is Bean as mentioned above.

Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?

Sam Mendes talked about being a fan ever since he saw "Live and Let Die." This leads me to the possibility that IF he has an analytic mind set then, he just might be able to correct the divergence that the Bond collection went through. He did start watching it during the Roger Moore era, so it's a possibility that he could correct what has gone wrong.

Already I think that with Javier recipe for a villain, which was superb in "No Country for Old Men", that he could do a great job as a villain. With that being said a hero in a story is only as great as it's villain.

I agree that Mads Mikelsen's performance was great in Casino Royale, BUT it felt to me like his character was restricted from becoming more than it could have been, as far as what the antagonist's agenda. Laundering an African warlord's money was kind of stupid, the same as the antagonist's plot in Quantum. Yes, it did mimic real life, but the Bond movies are about more cataclysmic disasters. Look at the villain's plots in Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, Thunderball(these are just off the top of my head). All of those involved a complex, elaborate plan from the villain's character, with Bond being the wrench in the gears.

Like I said, anyone can make a list, of what they want me to look for in the movie, and I'll cover it from those aspects including that of a die hard Bond fan.
