Re: Any info on the next Bond movie?
Sam Mendes talked about being a fan ever since he saw "Live and Let Die." This leads me to the possibility that IF he has an analytic mind set then, he just might be able to correct the divergence that the Bond collection went through. He did start watching it during the Roger Moore era, so it's a possibility that he could correct what has gone wrong.
Already I think that with Javier recipe for a villain, which was superb in "No Country for Old Men", that he could do a great job as a villain. With that being said a hero in a story is only as great as it's villain.
I agree that Mads Mikelsen's performance was great in Casino Royale, BUT it felt to me like his character was restricted from becoming more than it could have been, as far as what the antagonist's agenda. Laundering an African warlord's money was kind of stupid, the same as the antagonist's plot in Quantum. Yes, it did mimic real life, but the Bond movies are about more cataclysmic disasters. Look at the villain's plots in Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, Thunderball(these are just off the top of my head). All of those involved a complex, elaborate plan from the villain's character, with Bond being the wrench in the gears.
Like I said, anyone can make a list, of what they want me to look for in the movie, and I'll cover it from those aspects including that of a die hard Bond fan.
