I'm a KU fan, no, didn't attend just like them. Anyhow a friend, really more of an acquaintance which is still a bit of an exaggeration at this point but I digress, here is what my wife sent me: LINK

KU as in Kentucky?! hahaha!

KU would be Kansas, the Jayhawks. Who lost to Northern IOWA in the NCAA tourney.

Kentucky would be UK. they are far superior to the KU team. You must be a Tennessee fan?

Re: Any KU Fans?

Idaho, Iowa... all the same to a UK fan.....

GO CATS!!!!

Re: Any KU Fans?

I hate to get my hopes up but I'm to the point that I'll be disappointed if UK doesn't win another championship this year. I really want to be able to say that I was around when we won a championship.

My frat brothers and I have been saving couches to burn...I might have a bit of hooligan in me.

Someone needs to learn some NCAA basketball history...I think we have a couple more wins than any other program. 2000 plus anyone?

Re: Any KU Fans?

UK is a quality program. KU is a quality program. As a KU fan I was looking forward to a Calipari & Self rematch. Oh well.

As for UK being a "much higher" quality program let me help you out. KU has had Naismith as a coach, Wilt as a player, and has 51 conference titles (3 more than UK). KU and UK are both NCAA power teams. I would of loved to see them play but KU got cocky (which they do) and got beat. I just hope Calipari can keep UK out of NCAA probation long enough for the rematch to happen...

Re: Any KU Fans?

I'm sorry if I came off in the wrong way...I have nothing but respect for KU. You guys had a great team this year and a great lineage, I had KU and UK in the final in my own bracket.

In the same vein, I can't stand Duke or UNC but both are quality programs. I think Roy Williams is a crybaby but he's a hell of a coach and his record reflects his ability. Just because I don't like a program doesn't mean I can't appreciate that program's achievements.

^ This.

There's basketball programs in this country that are almost divine in their own right: UNC, UK, KU, UCLA, and of course, Duke. What those teams have done over the years is absolutely remarkable. However, I think UK has really taken a bad chance on Calipari. The guy knows how to win, but I don't think he deserves to polish Adolf Rupp's shoes, let alone take over that hallowed program. Maybe he'll change, but we saw what happened when Sampson took over Indiana... and Calipari and Sampson are birds of a feather, with Calipari perhaps being the more talented of the two. I love seeing my team knock the shit out of UK, KU, or UNC, but all more importantly I love watching two of the legendary basketball programs square off year after year. It's one of the best parts of the NCAA tourney, IMO.

Re: Any KU Fans?

During the 2009-2010 season, Kentucky became the first team in NCAA history to reach the 2,000-win plateau with an 88-44 blowout victory over Drexel.

The top 10 programs are:

1 Kentucky............... 2019
2 Kansas.................. 2002
3 North Carolina....... 2000
4 Duke..................... 1905
5 Syracuse............... 1781
6 Temple.................. 1736
7 St. John's.............. 1701
8 UCLA..................... 1685
9 Notre Dame........... 1672
10 Pennsylvania....... 1663

Its never been about coach Cal. its been about his players not declaring money they excepted from outside sources and AAU coaches that dont let some information out regarding their players.

Coach Cal hasnt been found guilty of doing anything wrong..... He is an excellent coach and public figure. He has really lifted the spirits and minds of UK fans. I dont see anyone else in this community doing what he does on a daily basis.

Re: Any KU Fans?

Time will tell. I think UK took a major risk on Calipari, and while I HOPE that the program doesn't suffer, I won't be shocked if it does. There's a reason Calipari's teams win... he can recruit like a champ.

Truth be told though, how long do any of us expect Wall or Cousins to stay? Calipari has no issue signing a guy for a year to get a good team, and that to me undermines the purpose of college basketball. I think Self at KU, Williams at UNC, and Coach K at Duke are all more dedicated to not only having winning teams, but also graduating their kids. College basketball isn't only about championships, right? I am judging Calipari by his record at Memphis and his first year at UK. I hope I'm wrong and that he duly honors the UK basketball tradition.

Good points. But Coach Cal also believes in the best possible future for his players, while some may say that needs to be an education others will agree going pro to make money for themselves and family is a better option. Especially when the players come from a family that has little to no money. Some of our players wouldnt even be able to afford college if they didnt play a sport and receive an sports scholarship.

Statistically, Calipari's players have a remote chance at having a lasting career in the NBA. The average career of an NBA player is only five years, though I'll admit they do make some coin during that time (somewhere over $5mil/year, though that number is skewed by the enormous salaries of the stars). There aren't many former players of Calipari that are succeeding besided Derrick Rose, whose impropriety led to the entire 2008 season being forfeited.

All I'm saying is, Calipari should know that if he allows anything like that to happen in Lexington, they're going to chase him out of town with torches and pitchforks. I'm actually shocked that there isn't someone from the old Pitino days that could step in as a younger coach and take the reins.

Re: Any KU Fans?

In the interest of full disclosure, I had Kansas and Kentucky in the final game, with KU pulling it out in a close one. That shows you how much I overestimated the big names.

As it stands now, I think the Duke/Baylor matchup will be tough (especially in Houston) and if Duke pulls it out, WVU will probably be a very close game. I think whoever wins the Duke/Baylor vs. WVU match will be the heavy favorite, though Tom Izzo is one of the most underrated coaches in the NCAA right now. Six Final Fours in 12 years... that's unreal.

Re: Any KU Fans?

I too was hoping for KU and UK. Then Obama stole my picks. Next time I'm gonna change my picks after the President has the same final game and result.

Nobel Peace Prize winners usually don't have the best brackets..

Butler is going to have a serious advantage playing a few miles from its own gym. I'd like to see Duke lose so that all the #1's are gone and have a underdog (of sorts) final four.

Re: Any KU Fans?

"Maybe you should check our basketball stats. pretty sure we hold the most achievements."

Maybe I should, while I'm checking that any clue where the game started? What was that guys name???

On the Obama stole my picks, I thought it odd it put "Kansas" kind of hedging his play there wasn't he?
