Any negatives to a phosphate finish

I really like the look and feel of a phosphate finish on a gun
Is there any drawback to a phosphate finish on a long gun?

I can think of a few things that would concern me;

1. It's not the best weather resistant finish in the world. It still requires regular oiling.

2. It is thicker than other coatings, making it a poor choice for tight fitting parts like bolt bodies or internal parts.

3. It scratches very easy.
