any one ever use these bullets

Re: any one ever use these bullets

I have never shot those, but I have shot other pull down bullets. I have never had an issue with them. For awhile there it was the only way I could get trigger time in on my cqb ar setup. I say go for it. Buy some and see how they work. If nothing else you will have plinker ammo.

Re: any one ever use these bullets

I'm still trying to figure out the written description of FMJHP BT. It can't be full metal jacket and a hollow point at the same time. I believe they look like hollow points.

Re: any one ever use these bullets

The military pull downs are supposedly Sierra match grade jacketed hollow points. The same as you can purchase retail, only much cheaper. Some do come with pull marks, but as long as your base is still sound, it makes very little difference. I can still get one half to three quarter MOA with my TBA M40A2 using these projectiles. I get only slightly better performance from brand new projectiles of the same make and weight.

Re: any one ever use these bullets

I didn't have such good luck with these:

175gr "Match Bullets"

Tried some awhile back and performance wasn't near the real 175gr SMK's in my AR-10 or AIAW. Not sure if they are the same, but if so, look out. As a matter of fact, the 145gr blastin' 30cal bullets that Widener's sells did better than the 175gr "match bullets".

Re: any one ever use these bullets

IMO the projectiles on gunbroker are good to go, like what others are saying - slight to little difference in accuracy compared to beand new but at a fraction of the cost. With respect to the above Widener's bullets, those aren't M118LR rounds nor are they hollow point; the base is not jacketed like a HPBT round would be and the lead is exposed. Over time, the exposed base deteriorates thus the crappy accuracy. If you have surplus exposed lead rounds, sort them by looking at the base. If its solid and uniform its good to go but if its crumbling a bit like sheetrock then toss it.

Re: any one ever use these bullets

Those Widener's 175's are the old projectiles for LC M118/M72. Prior to the M118LR. The exposed lead base makes them less stable they say. My Win. 147gr. load also does better in my M1 7.62mm Tanker sub MOA most loads.
