I'm interested in getting started in long-range shooting, and from what I've read this is an excellent choice to get into the sport without spending $3K plus on the rifle. After shooting the barrel out of it and gaining experience, replace with a custom barrel and it should be gtg (they say) for competition against any custom. I had considered getting a less expensive 700 in .308 to start, but if I can get a decent long range rifle (since that's the end game) for a few hundred more, why not?

Would like opinions from anyone with experience with this rifle. Thanks...

Honestly, I believe the barrels are made under the same process as the other Stainless Models, These are just offered in more suited calibers for F-Class with better stocks than the standard models. The stocks and the Accu Trigger are probably what jack the price up the most. If you want to use one of these calibers then by all means it is the best way to go but if you later plan on doing a tactical stock and switching the barrel, you might be better getting a standard model 12 or even 10 and switching the stock and killing that barrel. Your only disadvantage would be that you might not get a caliber you want. Or you could have the custom shop do a standard model 12 or 10 in a caliber you want. I'm pretty sure that's possible as well. Maybe get the Mcmillan model with a different Caliber? AH the possibilities with Savage

That's a sweet set-up with the fluted stock and threaded for a suppressor I haven't seen that one before. Good find fdkay. It's cool all the different exclusives certain stores get from the manufacturers sometimes.
