anybody built a 22x47 Lapua

Re: anybody built a 22x47 Lapua

I did one when the brass was first available. I also did a 6x47L at the same time. Like the 22BR vs. the 6mmBR, the 6mm version of the 6.5x47L was clearly superior to the .22 version. I no longer have the 22x47L but still have a 6x47L. I would suggest you do a 6x47L instead, unless you have a lot of good .22 cailber bullets you want to shoot up.

Re: anybody built a 22x47 Lapua

Quite honestly it would be very close to a 22-250. I know of at least one guy who forms brass to use in his 6x47 out of 22-250.

Ballistically my 22x47L behaved exactly like a .22-250AI.

Re: anybody built a 22x47 Lapua

I know of a guy that builds AR's that is taking the 6.8SPC case and necking it down to 22. That seems like a cool thing to play with also!

Re: anybody built a 22x47 Lapua

I built a 22 x 47 L when the brass was first available and love it, although I rarely shoot it anymore. I built the gun hoping to push 80 grain JLK's at 3,200 fps which it did easily, I wanted to easily shoot a prairie dog at 600 yards easily with a 22 caliber bullet.

It is very close to the 22-250 but when I built it Lapua did not import 22-250 brass so I necked down the 6.5 x 47L to get similar case capacity with Lapua quality brass. Given Lapua now imports 22-250 brass the 22 x 47 L may not be needed.

Just my 2 cents,

wade

i have a couple buddies with 20x47's. They kick ass. They have taken A LOT of coyotes down. The 55gr berger has a bc of .381. smacks hard at nearly 4000fps.
