If so, how do you like it. And is it a true 223 chamber? Seems like a true 223 Rem would take away the advantage of having a short action 223.

My r700 in 223 rem is a short action with smaller bolt face. Is it different with savage? I know I’m showing my ignorance but I gots to know mister. If so, how do you like it. And is it a true 223 chamber? Seems like a true 223 Rem would take away the advantage of having a short action 223.

If I'm understanding your question. Yes, it's the same. The savage would have a short (308 length) action and 223 bolt face.My r700 in 223 rem is a short action with smaller bolt face. Is it different with savage? I know I’m showing my ignorance but I gots to know mister.
No problem. Thanks for clarifying. It's a 75gr and I have it loaded to 2.515". 80s are
2.5"
That's my bad, I miss read your post about 223 Rem chamber. My mind automatically read Wylde. What velocity are you getting from the 88s in a wylde?
I don’t quite understand the difference between the 223 rem and the 223 wylde chambers. Does the wylde only have more free bore? Could you a 223 wylde to chase the lands on a 223 rem as the barrel eroded? All this is damn interesting to me because the 223 is a favorite cartridge of mine. Can you run 223 wylde ammo on a 223 rem barrel that has eroded from years of use?My best explanation... The only difference between 223 Rem, 223 Wylde and 5.56 nato is the chamber. The 5.56 has the most free bore; 223 rem has the least; 223 Wylde splits the difference.
Nice. I wish I had a range that goes out that far.No problem. Thanks for clarifying.
I'm getting 2530 fps with 21.7 gr of Varget in a 21" barrel. I actually took that load out to a bit over 1100 yards earlier this week with good success! The 88 has a bc of 0.545 which helps.
There is actually no such thing as "223 Wylde ammo". It's just a difference in the cut of the chamber. It' s the same case, same powder and same bullet. The only difference is how long your OAL is. So essentially, yes. An eroded 223 would, at some point, have enough room to run ammo that was loaded for a 223 Wylde. But it is really just a matter of chasing the lands/erosion. You would need to measure your distance to the lands before running longer ammo loaded to a longer length. Hope that makes sense. Can you run 223 wylde ammo on a 223 rem barrel that has eroded from years of use?
