Hey guys. I'm trying to determine what the size of an LWRC Barrel's gas port is, and if said gas port on a midlength gas system barrel is in the same location as it would be on any aftermarket barrel pre-tapped for a midlength gas system.
Reason I ask is cause I want to take one of their SPR uppers and turn it into an actual SPR-esque upper by replacing its 16" spiral barrel with an 18" Daniel Defense CHF barrel.
The only 18"/DMR type 5.56 they do is the M6A3, and I can't stand that the rail is only 9 inches long and leaves so much barrel exposed. Works against bipod placement for one, and just looks weird. Plus, I have no use for an adjustable gas system. As far as the regular SPR is concerned, I'm not a fan of their spiral fluting, but that's besides the point.
The end concept/idea is simply a rifle length (barrel-wise) LWRC rifle that's properly configured with the right sized handguards. I've asked them multiple times over the last year/year and a half to make an 18" SPR/SDM-R/SAM-R ish upper with either their SPR rail or their new IC rail architecture. They're not open to suggestions at the moment, and the mountains of paperwork they have to go through as a result of their ISO 9001 compliance make it hard for them to get any variation of anything out of the gate.

So, all that being said, all I really need is the size of the gas port for a midlength gas system with the A2 gas block (this can be the A2-S/OPERATOR/SPARTAN, or the SPR,) and it's location on the barrel compared to that of a regular midlength aftermarket barrel.
This way, I know if the gas port needs to be enlarged or not (I don't wanna screw the gun up by overgassing it or anything), and I know that it's situated in the same place so that it's merely a matter of taking off the old barrel and putting in the new one.
