anybody shot the 155 scenars out of a gap crusader

Re: anybody shot the 155 scenars out of a gap crusader

I also recently acquired a GAP Crusader. What an incredible rifle! I initially tested it with CorBon 155 gr Scenar, FGMM 168 gr SMK, FGMM 175 gr SMK, and the Applied Ballistics 175 gr Tactical factory loads. These tests were done using a NF NXS 5.5-22x50 scope mounted in a Badger medium (0.885") one piece ring set, an Atlas V8 bipod, and Accushot rear monopod mounted in the rear sling cup.

CorBon 155s: 2896, 2898
FGMM 168s: 2724, 2737
FGMM 175s: 2648, 2675
AB 175s: 2644, 2648

FGMM 168s: 0.82 +/- .16
FGMM 175s: 0.79 +/- .19
AB 175s: 0.82 +/- 0.21

Precision @ 600 yd (MOA, avg of 3 x 5-shot groups)
CorBon 155s: 0.72 +/- .24
FGMM 168s: 0.45 +/- .08

AB 175s: 0.51 +/- 0.15

Drop @ 600 yd (mil)
CorBon 155s: 3.6
FGMM 168s: 4.3
FGMM 175s: 4.4
AB 175s: 4.1

Although the CorBon 155s were the best performers at 100 yd, in my hands they did not do quite as well as the FGMM 168s and AB 175s at 600 yd. The data from all 4 loads at 100 yd are pretty close and frankly, that's about as well as I ever do at 100 yd. For some reason I don't quite understand, I seem to shoot much better at 200-600 yd, but am pretty mediocre at generating really tight 100 yd groups. Go figure. Anyhow, the rifle is capable of much better, so take that with a grain of salt. I have done a lot more shooting with the Crusader since those initial tests, primarily with the FGMM 168s and AB 175s. Both seem to work very well in the Crusader, but the AB 175s have given me the most consistent overall performance. I have not run the 155s again since that initial testing, but may do more at some point in the future. If you try them with good results, let us know. Hope that helps, and enjoy your Crusader!

When I was ordering my Crusader, I called and asked the technical staff what bullet it was throated and designed (twist) for...they told me 175grs.

Re: anybody shot the 155 scenars out of a gap crusader

When I had my Hospitaller I had excellent results with the 155 Scenar's. Rem 9 1/2 primer, 46.4grs. VARGET. The avg. was 2889 fps. Please start lower & work up. Some folks run more some less of VARGET but starting lower & working up never hurts.

Are all the crusaders made the same? meaning are tbey designed for 2.800" for best accuracy (just touching the lands for factory loads) I like to reload so if anybody has any recommendations on the OAL please help me out. A buddy has one and he says 2.825". any opinions?

They should all be chambered with similar dimensions. However, it is not that simple to state just a COAL, it depends on the bullet you are using. A more accurate measurement is to dantum line.
