Would anyone know which ammo scope configuration below is designed for?

I was told this was specifically designed for AI's AW Rifle.
I am thinking it is for 175's with a muzzle velocity of ~2650.

Only AW I know of that used a 10x fixed optic was the L96A1. You may try that as a starting point.

The G22 I used was a AW(Mag) but obviously not with this scope as well as not in MOA and we used ammunition made by the German manufacturer MEN.

Find out where the Brit's got their 7.62 from during the lifetime of the L96A1 and you'll probably have what you need.

One of the guys on the pistol team I am on owns scope. When he initially sent me pics I was not sure about the elevation turrets . I had the scope in my hands this evening and figured it was designed for a specific round after he conveyed it was designed specifically for the AI AW.

Thanks for the info

Wasn’t it British made ammo? Green Spot or Green Box or something like that.

Radway Green?

Not sure, I figured they have made their own but may have also gotten it from elsewhere (US?).

  • 7.62×51mm NATO - (standard L44A1 FMJ [plus "Green Spot" and L42A1 for sniper use], tracer and blank ammunition) - [production of 7.62mm started in late 1953][1]

Lots of info here: https://sites.google.com/site/britmilammo/7-62mm/7-62mm-nato-ball

Seems you may be after some L2A2 or L38A1

"Round 7.62mm Ball L38A1" was made by RG only in 1997 and included "L38A1" in the headstamp.. It was sniper/match grade ammunition and had a 144 grain (9.33 gram) bullet. It was similar to the L2A2 "Green Spot" round but made to higher tolerances.

Good information from German. I’m just speculating that it could have been this ammo based on the time frame, but could be wrong (I usually am ?).

The L2* range of Ammunition made from the 50s was designed for the L42 rifles, even tho it remained in service through the 80s and early 90s

As the original L96 started with a fixed power S&B x6 Klassic and the 10x was a mid life improvement I would suggest it matches the L40 series Ammunition which was all 155 grain, still made by Radway Green. The L40 was a penetrator round, the L42 was "sniper ammo"

This site has a good summary of the RG ammo variants

I'll dig through some old infantry training pubs that had the drop tables for the L96 and see if I can find them
