Taken off of the show "Burn Notice"

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Even the wife caught it.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Nothing wrong with honing your long range skills up close.... :p

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Don't laugh: I have seen ACOGs mounted backwards in the Middle East - and not just on television.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

That had to be done by one of the crew as an inside joke to the knowing in the audience.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

No, the guys in Burn Notice are completely retarded when it comes to firearms.

I lost interest when the oblivious main character "super spy" started running around shooting his AR floating off his shoulder in front of him.

No one on that show knows a single damn thing about guns. I feel bad for whoever is loaning his collection out to a bunch of retards. They have some surprisingly nice gear sometimes, I bet it gets dropped a lot.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

The sad truth is that it takes specific effort on the production's part to get it right and most don't have an interest in doing so. Most movies will have an advisor and an armorer or two who know what's going on, but a lot of TV shows skimp on the budget and leave it up to the armorer. The problem is the armorer can't be in two places at once and his top priority is safety, not accuracy.

Michael Mann, even though he's a complete lunatic to work with, puts a lot of effort in getting it right on set and in the sound mixing - but that's him and it's become one of his signature things. Most aren't like him and if you criticize the gun work in other films or shows, you'll just get a sarcastic response like this from the director or producers: "And imagine how much more money it would have made if all of the guns were done perfectly?"

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

That's pretty bad. I've seen 2 aimpoints mounted one in front of the other on a movie or TV show before, I forget which one though. I damn near wanted to cry.

The problem with guns or almost anything military in TV or movies, is that getting something right is usually the exception not the norm.

Edit: Here's one I found. Not the one I was talking about, but this aimpoint looks to be mounted backwards, as well as still having it's lens covers on. I believe it stayed that way for the entire movie, and still had the lens covers down for when he was shooting.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

I know I'm late to the party, but just reiterating the "<span style="text-decoration: underline">Saving Private Ryan</span>" scenes where the scope goes from a Weaver 330C to a Lyman or Unertl Target and back again. Then the quick releases so the turd Upham can watch the battle. Maybe Jackson carried both?

What killed me was the "clicks" on the parallax ring, right after Caparzo got hit. That WAS pathetic.

I still think a ton of the movie, but DAMN IT, I hate when they get stuff like that completely wrong.

What can I say, there was aviation stuff in there that set me off a little as well. Too good of a movie to have stupid things like that ruin it.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Movies don't have any real directors anymore. They are only after speed and the most money.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Didnt Jackson hand Upham the one scope and put the bigger one on his rifle to get the German Sniper after Caparzo got hit?

I don't know, I'll have to watch it again to see. I thought Upham took it off the rifle when they were assaulting the machine gun nest under the radar antenna.

Jackson swapped rifles with Upham right before the assault. So, Upham had Jackson's rifle.

By aviation stuff, do you mean the fact that in the movie they had P-51 Mustangs busting tanks as they were pushing through tight streets in a tiny french village? I'm no military historian but I've always been a huge fan of the late model P-51s and to my knowledge they were mostly relegated to high-altitude, high-speed fighter and bomber escort roles. I believe I read something once about the RAF buying the early P-51s (A/B model) and using them for ground attack very early in the war but I don't recall ever reading anything about a "P-51 Tank Buster", especially not in service in 1944. Still an amazing movie though.

That was pretty much it. At that time, the RAF had just gotten their Typhoons worked out to be excellent ground attack aircraft. They were nicknamed 'tank busters' by guys on the ground, but not officially. This movie takes place during and between D-Day/The Breakout. It was about that time the USAAF figured out the P-47 was about the baddest bitch in the land as far as ground attack. It was stable, easy to fly, could pack four times what any other fighter could carry, and of course the eight fifties up front did their share of damage. It would have been nice to see one of them, or a P-38. Considering how important the bridge was I would have expected to see anything.

The glider story was actually true. Someone put steel plating in the floor of the glider and that made the CG and trim ineffective. It crashed killing a one-star general, BG Don Pratt.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Great now I need to watch Saving Private Ryan again SW

Annnnnnnnnd...

I know Schmidt & Bender's are awesome and all... But you gotta have 'em pointing the right way! lol

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

I love watching movies just too look for things like this!!

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

How many guys actually caught all that stuff on the first time through?

A retired 10th group guy I know told me there was something huge to look for as far as the 'Ranger' insignia. Not exactly what. But, something. I've caught all kinds of stuff but not that. Anyone got any ideas?

That is hilarious!! I must have missed that image on the show, because I watch most of their episodes. Too funny!

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

I don't see what the big deal is. This is exactly how I run my scope. I like to run my flip caps closed too.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Inaccurate German armor is what riles me up. Pvt Ryan did a better than most good job on that. The tiger tank has some glaring flaws but at quick glance really hits the mark. Hey its Hollywood, right.

Not to mention the Panthers were actually armored tank destroyers, not Panthers.

On Saving Private Ryan, I'll give 'em the go on the personal weapons at least. The gritty realism more than makes up for mistakes not so easily caught.

I did see a funny one tonight, "Werewolf: The Beast Among Us". Set in the 1800's sometime but the villagers are carrying Kar 98's. The main character who hunts them is carrying either an 1890 Mosin or an 1891 Argentino. It's just too Hollywood funny all the gun stuff.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

Did you guys also note that Jackson's 1903a4 didn't even have shims? Retarded

Hahaha, that is great.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

In Saving Private Ryan, if you look at some of the ammo belts they have around their torsos, all of the ammo is missing primers.

Re: Anyone notice anything funny in this pic?

A season or two ago on burn notice they were running around with empty plate carriers that they had on backwards, the drag handles were in the front.

Had to go find the picture.
