Anyone out there loading 308 on a Dillon 650?

I just got the 650 and set it up per the instructions.

I have loaded on a single stage and also have an older Dillon 1050. I bought the 650 to load 7.62.

I bought some once-fired LC 7.62 brass and started to adjust the resizing die and I ran into a problem. The resizing die will not re-size these cases appropriately until the sizing die is so far down that it actually causes a camming effect with the reloader at the bottom of the stroke. While completely fine on a single stage Rock Chucker, on this machine that is not such a good thing.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? If I back out the resizing die to the absolute lowest point without binding the machine I can get the brass to nearly sit flush with the top portion of my headspace gauge. On a bolt gun this is probably ok, but I am loading for several ar-10 style rifles. I guess I could check headspace on the rifles but it seems like I should adjust the machine to ensure proper function no matter what this ammo goes into.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks-jay

perhaps since this is most likely machine gun brass (not LR) it is pretty badly stretched? Could it spring back that much? I have run 5 pieces through the Dillon several times and I still get the same result.

I "cam over" my 650 when FLSing and never had a problem.

Why do you feel it's bad to do?

Mt understanding is Dillon got his start in reloading machines because of his love for machine guns, and wanting to shoot them more/cheaper...seems like the 650 oughtta handle FLSing machine gun brass just fine!?

Turbo-

I was told by the Dillon rep this was hard on the machine. Unfortunately I was also told by a different dillon rep that it needed to cam over to actually resize properly. After dealing with the Dillon guys, I had to throw up my hands and ask elsewhere.

I was thinking since the toolhead fits in those slots on the frame that the repeated stress would be bad for the machine.

First I'd go try a small base die. I've got to size for all my FLS die is worth to get 308 brass to fit my AR10 well. I should really get a SB die myself!

Second, well...whats that lifetime no BS warranty for???
