Anyone put a DCM barrel on their M4?

$300 opens up a plethora of good barrels. Recently Freedom Group purchased Montana Rifleman. If the barrel is made by them it might be worth it. When Montana Rifleman was privately owned, they made barrels on par with the best in the business, but freedom group has a way of taking well made products and ditching quality for mass production.

My Bushmaster DCM was an extremely accurate rifle that I used in High Power Competition. Look at what you get for 300$. The barrel is 1" in diameter and comes with a matching bolt.

Are there more accurate barrels out there that you think would be better?

I can't imagine Bushmaster selling anything but top quality parts for their DCM rifles. If the High Power competitors got wind of any thing that is not top quality the bottom would fall out from under Bushmaster competition line. Many of the competitors are the best in the world. I was working the 600 yd. target for the top Army sergeant on the FT. Benning team when he put 10 shots that I covered with my fist. Everyone uses open PEEP sights not scopes to shoot. These guys are amazing.

There are numerous high quality barrels from a variety of different mfgs that will at least meet and likely exceed the "quality" and accuracy that the basic BM DCM barrels achieve. If you are looking for an off-the-shelf barrel, the RRA NM/DCM barrels (if you can find one) are capable of phenomenal accuracy right out of the box. Also, the WOA/WOP service rifle barrels are also some of the best around, as are the Krieger, Douglas, Bartlein and like service rifle barrels.

If you want some of the best available, check with Compass Lake Engineering about some of their offerings. Frank White has been making some of the best, most competitive service rifle barrels based on Douglas, Krieger, Bartlein and other high quality blanks for longer than I can recall. His stuff is absolutely first rate and he has forgotten more about what it takes to make winning tubes than many will ever know! ;)

You know another name to consider is Black Hole Weaponry. I know their not as well known but I have had extremely good luck with them. I have a 20" rifle platform and my version of a MK 12 Mod 1 that both shoot .5 MOA groups with their barrels and Black Hills 77 gr. OTM's. Just food for thought...
