Looking to cut down my .303 SMLE barrel for a "truck gun" project. Are there any Hide members that would rent out the hand tools to face and crown a barrel? I know lathe cut is the way to go, but this is a truck gun. Minute of pie-plate at 100yds is good enough. If you don't have the correct pilot for .303 brit I would be willing to buy it and send it back with the tool.

Thank You

The 303 pilot is the right size for 308 FALs.

Crown facing never did me any good in surplus rifles.

The reason I want to face the barrel is that I am cutting it down for a beater/truck gun.

Best answer might be to buy the tool from a place like PT&G, and then when you are finished resell it. You can recover a good chunk of your money that way, and end up 'renting' it as a default.
