I have a Bushmaster Varminter with a 1:9 twist 24" barrel. I have had some great results with 52 and 55 grain pills and am currently experimenting with 69 grain Noslers. They show great promise and once I get everything dialed in, I expect they will outshine the lighter bullets. I have a hankering to try the 77 grain BTHPs after reading about how effective they are on soft targets.
I understand the commonly stated formulas and recommendations for these long bullets (1:8 or faster twist), however I also understand that reality sometimes deviates from "the rules". So has anyone actually tried shooting the 77 grain projectiles from a Bushbastard, and if so what were your results?
