Anyone using new Lapua Palma brass with 168SMK?

I am looking for some load data on what works with the new Lapua small rifle primer brass using 168gr SMKs. I am using CCI BR4 primers and would like to try Varget if it has proven to be a winner. I am open to ther powders as well.

I am looking for a 100 yard target/BR factory class load. I am trying the new Lapua brass to see if it will shrink my groups. Only bought 50 peices as a test batch.

The consensus form another forum is that the Lapua small primer Palma brass will only show an improvement over the Lapua .308 large primer brass in an extremely accurate long range match rifle with a good driver at the trigger.

It seems that the small primer has less overall effect to the loaded round that the differences between primer brands is negligible, therefore less critical, more forgiving component to the loaded round's consistency.

It would probably take a side by side comparison test to see the difference, and it would likely be relatively small to most of us.

To the serious Palma or Longrange shooter it could be a match winning difference of a point or two or a couple of X's at 1000 yds. They are the ones the small primer Palma brass was made for.

You may well find that it works great for you, but the chances of it being a miracle group-tightener will be relatively slim, I think.

I'll be interested in what you find with your small primer loads, I wish I had data to share with you.

All my small primer .308 and .260 loads are with the older R-P BR REM brass from the early 80's. The case weight is a full 20 gr less than the .308 Lapua brass (large primer) I have.

Thanks for the link to German Salazar's article. I think I know now why I lost so many points to verticle and none to horizontal in the last my 1000 yd F class match.
