Anyone using Ramshot for pistol loads?

Been thinking about using Silhouette for some 40 loads...anyone have feedback, good or bad, for Ramshot pistol powders.

I sure love my TAC in the 223 stuff...but that's about as far as I have diddled with Ramshot.

Any help is appreciated.

I use it in 9mm with medium weight bullets, like the 115's adn 124's. It will also work for 40's with 155 adn 175gr bullets.

I don't know where my reloading book is right now from my recent move or I'd give you some starting loads. I got mine from Ramshot's website though.

Ramshot is the parent company of Accurate Arms. You most likely have heard of Accurate. So no issues even though the Ramshot brand is not as famous as others or even Accurate.

Yeah, I know Ramshot recently bought AA...I have no issues with Ramshot's quality. In fact, I know of several tests by a friend where it produced the lowest SD of many pwders in several rifle load...I am just looking for some anecdotal stories regarding the pistol stuff. Thanks.

Re: Anyone using Ramshot for pistol loads?

Haven't used any of their pistol powders, but will soon. I just ordered 4lbs of True Blue, so should have a good idea of how it performs soon.

Thanks for the info...how's accuracy and consistency for you with it? </div></div>

The 9mm I shoot it from is not exactly a target pistol, it's a P series Ruger. Keeping that in mind, I can easily hit 5" steel plates with it at 25y.

In the 40 cal and 10mm it does dandy, it's pretty clean, but I get better velocities from Blue Dot. Accuracy is as good as you might expect from a factory G20. 2.5-3" at 25y

Re: Anyone using Ramshot for pistol loads?

I use Zip in .380ACP and 40SW. No issues. I have issues only with Enforcer in a tight .45ACP. It appears that they coat little yellow balls with powder and the little tiny balls like to get everywhere, including between the frame and slide. No issues with Zip (or TAC or Magnum in rifles).

Thanks a bunch guys...just wanted to know if it'd be worth it to spring for a 4 or 8 pounder...I figure you gotta order that much to make it worth it via mail.

Just makes sure you order some primers, and it will be worth fees. Hell, I save enough on a 5k order of primers that it justifies the extra shipping.

Re: Anyone using Ramshot for pistol loads?

WAP = Ramshot Silhouette

W231 = HP38 = Ramshot Zip

HS-6 = W540 = Ramshot True Blue

AA#9 =H108 = WC820 = Ramshot Enforcer

In a 7.62x25mm Tokarev Pistol, with Ramshot Enforcer, Starline brass, 110 gr FMJ Hornady #3017, 1.390" OAL, the primer falls out in an overload work up at 13.7 gr.

In the same situation, but AA#9 powder, the primer falls out at 14.2 gr.
