Another wonderful weekend of shooting at Rayners, typical wind both days. Saturday had stronger winds but seemed to be steadier and Sunday looked nice but had those ever tricky shifting winds that some got three shots off with same conditions and others needed 3 minutes left then next shot could have used 3 minutes right during their string. Oh well, that makes it fun, at least that is what we keep telling ourselves.
Congratulations to Dave Moore for another outstanding score of 425, was a real pleasure watching him work his way thru the smaller targets all day. Don't know how he does it but having him fondle my gun didn't help me any on the little ones. Always next month to try and be smarter and remember to not be suckered into those wee bitty chunks of steel.
Many thanks to Tom & Carolyn Rayner for having such a wonderful place for us all to shoot. It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to put on these matches and many take it for granted, taking a bit of time to let them know how much we appreciate all their hard work goes a long way. The food was great as usual and thanks to those that helped prepare and serve the hungry masses as they filled their plates.
Entries were down a bit from last month, only had 98 entries this month compared to 101 last month. Just kidding a bit, I think it's great that so many are enjoying this and using Toms facilities, getting that many thru in two days is nice. I can remember back when we started having 30 or so and it's grown steadily.
Try to remember to be ready when it's your turn to get to the line, Tom would like each shooter to get their shots off in two minutes so don't dilly dally around, be ready when you get to your position to keep things moving right along. The spotters aren't supplied by Tom, they are volunteers and it's nice to have everyone participate and volunteer to help spot. If you feel uncomfortable being a spotter jump behind a vacant scope and see how your calls compare to the more experienced ones. It's not easy and we all make mistakes but practice makes it easier. If you don't need or want a spotter let them know, it'll sure give their eyes a rest.
