Hi guys, I'm fairly new to AR-15 building but I've assembled a list of parts that I want. I was simply hoping you could let me know if I need anything more or if my list is complete. Also, if you see something that is not going to work let me know.

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Stripped Lower</span></span> - Spikes Punisher stripped lower.

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Lower Kit</span></span> - Spikes Enhanced Lower Parts Kit

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Stock</span></span> - Magpul CTR Milspec Complete Kit (includes 6 pos. tube, latch plate, castle nut, Mil-Spec 17-7 SS buffer spring, Spikes T2 Heavy buffer)

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Upper Reciever</span></span> (stripped) - Spikes Forged Upper (stripped) with forward assist and ejection door.

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">BCG</span></span> - Spikes Nickle Boron HPT/MPI M16 BCG

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Barrel</span></span> - Noveske 10.5 or 11.5 (depends on whether Ops Inc can will fit on the 10.5"

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Hand Rail </span></span>- Spikes Tactical BAR rail (length to be decided)

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Barrel Nut </span></span>- Spikes Barrel nut kit

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Gas Tube </span></span>- Spikes Melonite Carbine gas tube

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Gas Block </span></span>- Not sure yet. Looking for a standard low profile one that is set up for suppressed only.

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Charging Handle </span></span>- Pri Gas Buster

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Sights</span></span> - Magpul MBUS Folding Sights

<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Tools</span></span> - Stock Wrench, Lower Vise block, barrel nut wrench, punch set. (already have a vise)

So.... How much am I missing here?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Upper action block. A gas tube roll pin punch is nice to have. The stock trigger may be fine (some are better than others) so you don't need to spend $200 for an upgrade right now.

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Mags and ammo!!
List looks solid. I would look into some Troy sights. I had a pair of Magpuls and just really wasnt happy on how big that rear Apature was other than that they were solid and worked good...just an FYI

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Why don't you jsut call Spike's and see what they can do for a complete rifle. Theyre good people, I've been in their shop a number of times. Lotsa cool toys hanging on the walls in there.

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Looks like you are a Spikes fan. Do not feel you have to buy AR parts with a 'cool' name associated with them. Most AR parts will be perfectly fine for you. A lot of folks "drink the koolaid" and think they have to spend extra money on parts to get a cool name brand, when there are cheaper sources available. Don't be afraid to try other brands, if money gets to be an object.

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Thanks for your responses. Looks like I have pretty much everything then. I will look into the upper action block and the punch that was mentioned. I think I'll give the stock trigger a try as I think spikes does a little work on them, but I might be wrong.

Angry pirate - I looked on Spikes sight and all of their uppers and complete rifles are not in stock. I think the problem is that their waiting on lowers, because most other stuff is in stock.

Sean - Spikes is a great manufacturer. Really, I wasn't going for the cool names, just high quality parts IMO. However, i did spend about $10 more to have the punisher skull on the side of the lower though

Thanks again guys!!!

Ok I pointed out some issues in red. The BAR rail has everything needed for the barrel, no nut needed it already has it. The gas tube is something you don't need to upgrade at all, get a basic one. The PRI gas buster will be a must for the short barrel and suppresor you want to run! You need a good upper vice also for the barrel install, a barrel vice is better. You are going to have to get a better gas block than "something for suppressed only" Get a JP adjustable or the Vltor adjustable gas block. Don't bother getting the magpul BUIS they are not the greatest, get some troys or if they are the main sights for the gun get some fixed DD or Troy sights. Another great company to buy AR parts from is Rainier Arms. Let us know what you get and pics when its done

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

ROUS - I should have mentioned that in the first post, but yes I will be running suppressed only. The plan is a Ops Inc M4-M, which I think should work on a 10.5" barrel.....i think....

StrangeDays - Great Info! I completely missed the part about the BAR rail already coming with a barrel nut, but you are indeed correct! As for the Gas Block.... from what I understand, the Ops Inc M4-M that I plan to run will be a very close fit on a 10.5" barrel. I haven't found a whole lot of info on the subject, but I was told (by a very knowlegdable person) that I should skip the Noveske Switch Block (that I was intending to use), and just make it a dedicated suppressed gun and to use a standard low pro gas block and it would work. So pretty much, while I haven't had the time to look into it yet, I'm looking for a gas block that is ported for suppressed only fire for a 10.5" barrel with carbine length gas system, that doesn't take up much space on the barrel. Thats the only part of my build that I haven't figured out yet and would be extremely receptive to your recommendations.

Also, looks like I'm gonna scratch the Magpul BUIS and find something else, like the Troys.

Thanks for the great information!

A couple of additions.

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

USACS - The Noveske Switch Block is what I originally wanted, but I have been informed that the Switch Block will probably not work for a 10.5" barrel running a Ops Inc suppressor. I think the problem is that it will take up too much room on the barrel and not allow the suppressor's collar adapter to go all the way on, but I'm not completely sure on that.

I am getting ready to look into it further, but I know that I will need a minimum of 2.2" of barrel from the muzzle face to the gas block. So, I first need to figure out how much length there is from the muzzle face to the gas block's seat/shoulder on a 10.5" barrel with Carbine length system, so I know how much room the gas block can take up..... I hope that makes sense.

The reason I am thinking of just going with a standard low profile GB is because I've been told to skip the Switch Block and just make it a dedicated suppressed gun and to use a standard low pro gas block and it would work.

I may just decide in the end to use an 11.5" barrel, in which case the Noveske SwitchBlock will work.

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Update. Looks like I'm going to need a GB that covers no more than 1" of the barrel. That shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks guys, I'll add the tools that you guys suggested and I think I'm ready to start ordering everything, except the barrel. I'm going to wait on that until my ATF forms are approved

Re: AR-15 build list..... Am I missing anything?

Stripped Lower - Spikes Punisher stripped lower not to call bad if this has not changed by spikes ..using magpul mags are not drop free ,the nato style do work but high cost ..tools roll pin starter set ...moly grease without graphite in it for the barrel nut

It's harder than it sounds. Noveske is pretty big on proprietary components.
