im thinkn about buying a CASV style handguard for my AR. ive seen them from VLTOR and i like the idea that you dont have to disassemble the rifle much. i also looked into the Bushmaster BMAS. the upper i have now is a full length 20" barrel so the BMAS is looking pretty good economic wise (i dont have to buy a 16" upper). i know what is involved in disassemling an upper but have never done it. how extensive is it? is it worth the extra money to buy a 16" upper? (ill probably buy one eventually but im enjoying the full 20" now) any experience with these system? pictures?

Re: AR rails (CASV)

I run the CASV-EL on two guns; one is an 11.5" upper (shown on an M16 lower below) and the other is on a standard 16" carbine. I like them, but they get a lot of flack because they require special height mounts for some type of optics, in order to get co-witness. This is an Aimpoint M3 in the LarRue LT-152 mount designed for the KAC setup that is the same rail height.
